Against All Grain- Recipes That Get Rid of Your Autoimmune Disorders Once and For All

Food is medicine – that’s the mantra of culinary medicine. According to Dr. John La Puma, food is the best way to prevent, treat, cure and reverse illness.

Eating is a science. Eat the right ones, and your body will respond accordingly. Modern diseases are caused by years of wrong eating. They can be cured by right eating.

Some foods are ‘good for you’ and others are ‘bad for you’. Preventing and curing illness can be as easy as knowing which foods to eat and how to prepare them. The more of your meals which are ‘good for you’, the healthier you’ll be. Natural treatments only have positive side effects.

I just finished reading Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great -- really fascinating book, full of interesting information everyone should know. What is unique about this cookbook is that it focuses on organic and whole foods in every recipe and that it is designed to help people who want to stay healthy and people who suffer from diseases like autoimmune disorders such as Crohn’s, Coeliac Disease, IBS, Ulcerative Colitis, Candida and other food allergies and intolerances. It is a very realistic way to eat without ever feeling hungry or deprived.

Where Did This Cookbook Come From?

A lot of people think that doctors are the primary resource for learning how to get rid of these diseases, when in reality they only deal with one aspect and that is the medical part.

When you read Against All Grain, you will see that this cookbook was written by a woman who had been suffering from Ulcerative Colitis. What she developed is a 100% sure-fire way to put natural food to work that will be guaranteed to result in curing these diseases.

What Is the Against All Grain?

NY Times Bestselling Author, Danielle Walker provides over 150 delicious, and nutritious gluten/grain/lactose/refined sugar free recipes to nourish and heal your body. This Best Selling cookbook is for Paleo, Gluten-Free, SCD, and GAPS.

What Else Should You Know About the Against All Grain?

You can tell that Danielle Walker (the author) knows her nutritional stuff, you wont find a bag of enriched, bleached flour or a bag of granulated sugar in HER kitchen! She uses honey or maple syrup in many of her recipes instead of sugar. The cookbook is very well written and organized with sections for 1- to start off your morning 2- small bites 3- soups, salads and sides 4- the main event 5- for the kid in all of us 6- muffins, loaves, and morning cakes 7- sweets and treats 8- basics 9- sip on this. Every recipe has a gorgeous picture, and even the index has a thumbnail picture of every single recipe.

Danielle unveils the equipment she uses in the kitchen, the secrets of choosing foods that contribute to healthy metabolism and by having a book like this makes it more likely that your nutritional house will remain in order. It has everything in it- breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. There are no excuses! The recipes are downright excellent.

The recipes are equally good for those who like to stay healthy. If you want healthy, but really delicious food ideas that can feed the family follow this cookbook. The cookbook is packed with tips, tricks, secrets and best recipes.

It is a very helpful book that has helped me understand and choose better among the food I like and enjoy. Most recipes take me about 30 min (sometimes a lot less) of work time, from getting the ingredients organized to cooking it. If I were to go out and eat, it would take me longer to travel to the restaurant and wait for the order. It is also much healthier and cheaper. You will conquer your fear of cooking by following the simple recipes.

Many people seem to have trouble eating breakfast, I suspect that the breakfast recipes of this cookbook will get the most use. I was very impressed by the creativity of her healthy blueberry waffles, I always assumed that to make waffles you had to use enriched bleached flour (bad simple carb) and sugar. It is completely free of simple carbs and sugar. I’m a terrible cook but even I can handle this. Danielle Walker knows that people like myself need simple instructions, in the case of this waffles recipe it is simple enough that I can do it.

If you don’t have time to cook waffles every morning even though her are really easy, there is a solution. You can make a batch of allergy-free breakfast cookies once a month and keep them in the freezer. The cookies are high in fiber, have lots of Essential Fatty Acids. I have to admit, I never thought of this healthy cookies like this before.

The section of the cookbook that got me the most excited is the section titled “muffins, loaves, and morning cakes .”

All these recipes are way healthier than any cake, bread, muffin you can buy at the store and they are certainly far cheaper. Of all the recipes, the “cinnamon-raisin coffee cake” is by far my favorite. This is perfect for sharing or taking to a group meeting. This cake is just the ticket! Easy to put together with ingredients that you will most likely have on hand, this cake is a show stopper and a people pleaser! Cinnamon is just one of those spices that tastes fantastic. But taste is not the only reason to love cinnamon. There are health reasons to love this super spice.

I also made zucchini bread. It is very healthy, delicious and so easy to make. The ingredients you need are 1 cup shredded zucchini, 1½ cups blanched almond flour, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, ¾ teaspoons baking soda, ½ teaspoon sea salt, ½
bread and honey
teaspoon nutmeg, 3 eggs, beaten, ¼ cup honey, 1 ripe banana and coconut oil for greasing the pan. You can find all these healthy ingredients easily.

Danielle prepared many recipes using sugar-free almond flour that's pure protein.

Honey should be in your kitchen right now. It is one of the oldest sweeteners on earth. The benefits of honey include healing, beauty, skin care and nutrition.

Both protein and fiber are good for your diet. Dietary fiber helps to bond vitamins and minerals for the best nutritional delivery, and protein gives you energy for the day. Both of these are in zucchini in significant amounts. Zucchini has many major health benefits without many disadvantages.

This food is low in saturated fat, and very low in cholesterol and sodium. It is also a good source of thiamin, niacin and pantothenic acid, and a very good source of dietary fiber, protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, folate, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper and manganese.

Baking soda may be an inexpensive kitchen ingredient but it plays an important role in your health routine.

Sea salt contains many essential trace minerals that your body needs in order to be healthy.

Just a little nutmeg grated into soup, sauce, bread or any dish, can do a world of good for your health.

Eggs are a super health food. Eating eggs is a fantastic way to give yourself a health boost. One little egg is packed with several vitamins and minerals essential to your health.

Bananas are a great fruit but did you know how good for you they are? They are a storehouse of essential nutrients like potassium, dietary fiber and B vitamins. Adding a banana to your daily diet has an array of benefits in your body.

This zucchini bread is high in protein, high in fiber, have lots of Essential Fatty Acids, low in fat and low in simple carbs. Kids can help with this super-simple bread recipe. It is great for people who demand that their food tastes good and is healthy at the same time.

I enjoyed an amazing selection of sweet delights such as ice cream, cookies, and muffins, and dozens of creative savory treats. I love these because not only do they taste delicious, they use the natural sweetness. The average dessert, unfortunately has sugar calories. It's full of carbs. That's not going to help you stay healthy.

She has used spinach in her recipes a lot, remember that warm spinach salad with bacon and mushrooms?

spinach saladUsing spinach in salad recipe offers up a healthy dose of iron just when you need it. This is one of the best ways to keep on top of your auto immune disease and to make sure your iron levels are topped up and to follow an anti-inflammatory diet.

Bacon is also healthy for you! The protein found in bacon is extremely valuable to maintaining our energy levels and a fully functioning, healthy body. It helps to fully satiate our appetite with high protein / low carb energy and provides us with substantial amounts of the important, necessary vitamins and minerals our bodies need to function healthfully.

Mushrooms are low in calories, fat-free, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and very low in sodium, yet they provide important nutrients, including selenium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin D and more. She has used Portobello mushrooms in this salad recipe. These mushrooms are large Crimini mushrooms with a firm, meaty texture and delicate flavor. I love the meatiness of Portobello mushrooms. They can be cooked in a number of ways. They are great for grilling or stuffing because of their large, meaty caps.

The section named “basics” is really very helpful to all with recipes for basics like a pastry crust, pizza base, almond milk and a variety of preserves and tomato sauce.

This cookbook has some really interesting stuff in it. My only issue is that some recipes take a lot of time to cook. You need plenty of ingredients, and it can get really expensive.

Conclusion:

Overall I liked it and found it helpful. Its clear that the author put a lot of work into this book and she did an excellent job. Not only are the recipes good but the instructions are clear and easy as well. Its well organized and complete. With Danielle's recipes you never feel deprived. You will eat this way for the rest of your life.

You will not get bored with these meals as there are 200 recipes in this book. The recipes contain easy step by step instructions on cooking a healthy and delicious meal. Not only that, you will get detailed instructions on how much food need to be consumed, how often, etc.

There are sections for breakfast; chicken & poultry; red meat & pork; fish & seafood; salads, soups & sides; snacks & bars and desserts.

Out of almost 200 recipes, I made some of them.

For egg lovers like me, Egg White Bites is an ideal one. It is very healthy, delicious and so easy to make. The recipe is for 6 servings. The ingredients you need are 10 egg whites and an egg, one seeded and finely chopped tomato, one finely chopped onion, one tsp dried basil and black pepper. You can find all these ingredients in your kitchen.

All you need to do is whisk egg whites and the egg, then pour the mixture equally in a 6-muffin pan. Top each portion with tomatoes, onions, basil and peppers. Bake it. The total time (preparation time and cooking time) will not be more than 10 minutes. Yeah, it's that easy and it's known that egg is the best protein and fat source after red meat. You can try out this healthy, high-protein, interesting and super easy to make food item at your next party or social gathering.

For vegetable eaters there is a healthy, high-protein snack named Guilt-Free Spinach Dip, which you can also use as a party food. In this recipe the author uses cottage cheese, low-fat Greek yogurt, onion soup mix, water chestnuts, carrots and baby spinach – all are healthy foods.

For veggies, there are two more wonderful dishes – one is a quinoa recipe and another is a hummus recipe.

There is a section titled Snacks And Bar Recipes where you will get many healthy, mouth watering snack recipes. And the bar recipes are awesome. They are as good as any protein bar sold at the store but far cheaper and healthier.

anabolicious breakfastThe breakfast section is very useful for bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts. The recipes sound delicious. Popular breakfast recipes are Dave Ruel's Anabolic Blueberry Oats, High Protein Pancakes, and Apple and Cinnamon Muffins – where he uses egg white, oatmeal, flax oil or flax and splenda instead of sugar as a sweetener. He also uses protein powder in two recipes. They are all high in protein, high in fiber and healthy complex carbs, low in fat and low in simple carbs.

There is a whole chicken and poultry section and food tastes good. I was pretty excited about a chicken dish named Curry Chicken & Almonds included in this section, and it did come out so great. Just really taste as good as I wanted it to.

I have to say, the dessert recipes in this cookbook are superb. I made Carrot Cake, Strawberry Protein Ice Cream and Banana Cream Pie. These recipes were amazing! Everything tasted so good. I have to admit that I was a little bit skeptical of the Banana Cream Pie because I'm not a big fan of banana but it ended up being really good! I can't believe these desserts are all healthy! Try these recipes for sweet indulgences.

Yes, you will need to shop for the ingredients needed. Some are normal everyday foods, others might be a little hard to find, depending on your grocery store.

You probably have most of those ingredients in your cabinet already. The bad thing is some recipes do require quite a few items that if you are not a cook you may have to shop for. If you are not used to preparing your own food regularly you will have to shop but it is worthwhile to do so.

Dave Ruel offers meal plan, but you can always try to incorporate the foods he recommends and those you like. If you follow the plan, you will not be hungry. Ultimately, if you eat “clean” (e.g., vegetables, fruits, steel cut oatmeal, Greek yogurt, low sugar foods, etc.) plus workout you will get results, no doubts about that.

What else should you know about this book?

Dave Ruel's concept is based upon the belief that you are not going to achieve your goals if you don't have someone to support. It teaches you how to look at food in a completely new way resulting in long-term bodybuilding and weight loss results. With this e-book, you will find which foods to eat, in which quantities and times when to take them. A ton of information, recipes, tips and tricks are included in this little bundle. However, one of the issues that I found out is that this cookbook is not suitable for vegetarians.

Does this really work?

According to them, it definitely works, but as usual you have to be willing to follow the instructions and advice given in this book. It has been created to suit everyone. If you are looking for a way to achieve realistic, long-term fitness without a lot of pain, this is for you.

You really can't go wrong with this one if you are looking at a good bodybuilding cookbook at an affordable price.

If you are not satisfied with this e-book, you can apply for the money back guarantee. You will get guarantee for full two months.

We live in a toxic nutritional wasteland where finding real, fresh food is difficult if not impossible for most people. Anabolic Cooking is the book that solves this problem and it is most educational and a pleasure to read.

For those people who are new to healthy eating and have no idea where to start, the information in this book is invaluable. Dave obviously put a lot of thought into this product – he doesn't hold out on any information or tips. It's all in there!
